Abstract:
This 3 volume set highlights the writings, recordings, and visual works produced by countercultural movements to educate and incite action in all eras of U.S. history. The term "counterculture" refers to any intentional departure from conventional values and practices or the dominant lifestyles of the day. A-Z entries provide information on the personalities, places, events, concepts, beliefs, groups, and practices. The set includes illustrations, a topic finder, primary source documents, bibliographic citations, cross-references, and an index. This work explores these movements in the United States from colonial times to the present and examines the impact of countercultural movements on American social history.
